Which tap filter should you choose?

If you're looking for a home filtration solution, the market now offers many options catering for diverse consumer needs, such as filter jugs, bottles, flasks and tap filters. They come in a variety of designs and offer various levels of user-friendliness and filtration technology, i.e. they don't all guarantee that certain substances are trapped.

Filter jugs are great for families and home use, especially when people consume a lot of water at home and prefer to keep a steady supply of fresh water in the fridge. Filter bottles are excellent for individual use at home and in the office. You can fill them as needed, ensuring you always have access to excellent filtered water on pouring. Filter flasks are also designed for personal use, but they're meant for use on the go. They're waterproof and, in some models, even thermally insulated, making them perfect for sports or hiking, readily accessible in your bag or backpack as you need them. Now, what about tap filters? What purpose do they serve, and what advantages do they offer?

Why should you opt for a tap filter?

Tap filters are a home filtration solution that removes any undesirable substances from your mains water. They are ideal for people who want immediate access to filtered water directly from the tap. What are the main advantages of this type of solution?

1. Tap filters are convenient

Being fitted directly onto the tap, you can immediately fill your glass with filtered water free of undesirable substances without using any additional device.

2. Tap filter technology is comprehensive

Laica's tap filters are fitted with a HYDROSMART™ filter. This is a very comprehensive technology that filters out numerous substances, including microplastics, chlorine, chlorinated herbicides and pesticides, sand, rust and suspended particles.
The HYDROSMART+ METAL STOP filter not only removes the substances mentioned above, but also blocks any heavy metals that may be present in the mains water, such as lead and cadmium. The technology in this filter is designed to block all the substances mentioned while retaining the beneficial and useful minerals that are naturally present in tap water.

3. Tap filter lifespan

The HYDROSMART+ METAL STOP filter has the longest service life of all LAICA filters, alongside the MikroPLASTIK-STOP™ filter.
The HYDROSMART+ METAL STOP filter only needs to be replaced once every 4 months or, alternatively, after each 1200L of water filtered, for households that use a lot of water. The HYDROSMART™ filter, on the other hand, has a service life of 3 months, equivalent to 900 litres of filtered water.

4. Tap filters save space

With a home tap filter, you can consume your water as you wish: fill your glass directly from the tap, fill glass bottles to keep cool in the fridge or fill large jugs for the family at table; with a tap filter, you can organise your spaces according to the family's needs and circumstances.

5. Multifunction Filter: choose when you use filtered water

A question that's often asked about tap filters is how you can avoid using filtered water for activities like washing dishes, watering plants and rinsing fruit and vegetables. The solution is very simple: our tap filter mechanism has a simple bypass lever with which you can select unfiltered water flow.

What is the difference between the LAICA tap filter and the GENOVA tap filter?

LAICA's range of filtration systems includes two different tap filters: LAICA and GENOVA. The difference between the two filters is very simple and relates to their functions.

The GENOVA filter has two adjustable functions:

  • Filtered water – for drinking, making coffee and herbal teas, or even cooking.
  • Unfiltered water – for all other activities that don't need filtered water (such as watering plants and flowers, washing dishes or rinsing fruit and vegetables).

In addition to these two basic functions, the LAICA filter adds a third: shower function (continuous jet). This function provides unfiltered water with a gentler shower jet, ideal for washing sensitive edibles, for example.

Where they can be purchased

Our tap filters are available in the main Mediaworld, Euronics, Expert, Unieuro and Trony retail outlets.
